Active Power Filter (APF)
Active Power Filter is a new type of power electronic device for dynamically suppressing harmonics and compensating for reactive power. It can compensate for harmonics and reactive power that vary in size and frequency. Its application can overcome traditional harmonics such as LC filters. The shortcomings of wave suppression and reactive power compensation methods are obtained, and it is an ideal harmonic compensation device to obtain better compensation characteristics than passive filters.
Application
It is suitable for occasions with serious harmonic distortion such as urban bus charging stations, ventilators, air conditioners, water pumps, communication systems, oilfield platform engineering, automobile manufacturing, university towns and gymnasiums, hospital power distribution systems, metallurgy, and petrochemicals.
A P F is based on the theory of instantaneous reactive power in three-phase circuits. According to the different compensation objects, it is usually divided into two types: parallel type and series type. The parallel type is mainly used to control the harmonics caused by the current; the series type is mainly used to control the harmonics caused by the voltage. The practical application is mainly parallel type.
The basic working principle of A P F is: the active power filter detects the load current through the current transformer, and through the internal D S P calculation, extracts the harmonic components in the load current, and then sends it to the internal I G B T through the P W M signal to control the inverter to generate A harmonic current equal to the load harmonic current and opposite in direction is injected into the power grid to achieve the purpose of filtering
